[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="750"] KIM KLEMENT/USA TODAY SPORTS[/caption] Cece Jefferson is the face of Florida's defense. Here are five things you need to know about the senior defensive lineman...

He was suspended for Florida's season opener

Jefferson and six other players were suspended for Florida's season opener against Charleston Southern. Jefferson's sat out for academic reasons, but the other suspensions were more serious. A Florida school official told ESPN that the suspension was due to failure to "live up to the Gator standard."

He had "significant" shoulder surgery

Jefferson injured his right shoulder during the first half of Florida's spring game in April. He underwent "significant" shoulder surgery right after. Jefferson returned for Fall camp, but hasn't seen real-game action since November 25th, 2017.

His career-highs are against Florida State... and of course, Kentucky

Jefferson recorded a career-high tackles nine tackles against Florida State (2017) and a career-high 1.5 sacks against Kentucky (2017).

He returned to Florida for his senior year

Jefferson returned to Florida for his senior year instead of entering his name in the NFL Draft. He was projected to be a third-fifth round pick. "I didn't feel I was physically or mentally ready for the NFL," Jefferson said on his decision to return. "If I'm going to the next level, I want to be 100 percent ready, no doubt in my mind."

His teammate calls him the "Godfather"

Defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson calls Jefferson the "Godfather" of the Florida defense. "CeCe's always been a monster since he got here," Gardner-Johnson told 247Sports. "Honestly, CeCe's like the Godfather of the team. Everyone looks up to him. He's going to say what he wants to say, get it off his chest. I feel like he's our center point. Without CeCe, the team would probably go down. We bond around him, get up around him. He's been here the longest, his fourth year. I like him to go out with his best year to end his career and have something to remember."   Go cats.
