Huge news out of Gainesville: star defensive tackle Dominique Easley injured his knee in practice yesterday, according to the Gainesville Sun’s Zach Abolverdi. Sources say the injury is thought to be a torn ACL, in which case he will be out for the season. Easley is a dynamic player who was expected to go very high in next year’s draft, and is one of the leaders on Florida’s team (even if he hates the South).

If it’s true that he tore his ACL, that’s terrible news for Easley and the Gators. They lost Jeff Driskel last week for the season, and will also be without cornerback Brian Poole for the first half on Saturday. Running back Valdez Showers and tight end Colin Thompson are also doubtful for Saturday’s game.

UPDATE: Will Muschamp says Easley only “tweaked his knee” and will sit out practice today. Stay tuned…

Yet another UPDATE: Easley tweeted this moments ago: “@MR_ChUcKiE_2: Thank you for 4 yrs of sticking with me but god has something else planned.” Sounds like more than a tweak to me.
