This One Will Hurt For Ages Defining moments. When a defining moment comes along, you define the moment or the moment defines you. As good as Andre Woodson has been the past two seasons in leading the turnaround of Kentucky football, it maybe one play that will forever linger in his head. With eight seconds left on the clock, and the Cats trialing 31-28, Kentucky had one last chance for the victory. But the play was a disaster from the get go, starting with the fumbled snap by Woodson. Although he was able to regain control of the ball, the timing of the play was off, and in somewhat of a panic state Woodson fired the ball out of the back of the end zone in fear that there would be no time left for the game tying field goal. Keenan Burton was streaking WIDE, WIDE open in the back right corner as the ball sailed several feet over his head. Kentucky had its chances in over time to pull out the victory, especially with a 35 yard field goal try that would have won it, but I will always point to that play and wonder what could have been. Woodson Puts Up Big Numbers Andre Woodson closed out the regular season with a stellar performance of 430 yards passing and six touchdowns. Woodson’s numbers now read 3,351 yards through the air with 36 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Andre has had a great year even though the past six weeks have been somewhat disappointing. In the games UK has struggled the most, it has been due to the lack of running success the Cats have had, which in turn has put all the pressure on Woodson to perform. We should all say thanks to Dre, as he has made one of the most significant turnarounds as a player and as a leader for a football program that has had almost zero success through the years. It is athletes like Woodson that build winning attitudes and desires that last a lifetime. Thank you #3. Big Recruiting Weekend Williams, Bohannon, and Mohler all trip to Lexington To get away from talking about the heart breaking loss to the Vols, there were several recruits on hand to take in the game, and three stand out amongst the rest. With the recent news of Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan coming under fire (now fired as of Sat.), several of the Huskers commitments have decided to take a look around with the state of the program in Lincoln currently in limbo. The Cats got officials visits from four star junior college linebacker Shane Mohler(6'3 225) and three star Texas defensive end Josh Williams(6'4, 220). Both enjoyed their visits, and although they still claim to be Husker commitments at the time, I believe UK has placed a solid vision the minds of these young men of the opportunity of the continuing rise of the program and most importantly, early playing time. Keep an eye on these two in the coming month. Another name that made the trip, who is a familiar one is Willie Bohannon(6'2, 225), a star defensive head from Blount high school in Mobile, AL. Willie has been high on the Cats for some time, but is worried if the program may decline a little with the loss of so many significant seniors. He is still very high on the Cats and loved the visit, but he will also wait and see if Alabama may offer in the near future. Louisville is a factor as well in the race. Willie will continue to take visits in the next month or so before he becomes to a decision.
