bledsoe With two Dukies running for the US Senate in Kentucky today, some of us yearn for former Cats to make their presence known on the national scene. And on Monday, three of them showcased their skills in the world of sports. Eric Bledsoe got his first start as an LA Clipper, thanks to an injury by Randy Foye and general surliness by Baron Davis. He played 39 minutes, scoring 9 points and dishing 3 assists in a loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Bledsoe was a step behind on defense, but generally ran the offense well. The Clippers are a work in progress, but with Blake Griffin (who is REALLY good), there is some potential there....assuming of course that they recognize that Bledsoe is there to get sh*t right. It was also a good day for the man who is from the same dirt as Bledsoe, as Demarcus Cousins showed some clutch ability for the Kings, hitting key shots down the stretch in a win over the Toronto Raptors. Boogie finished with 16 points, but more importantly had ten in the final quarter, including two key buckets down the stretch. Potentially responding to a Chad Ford of ESPN report that he was showcasing attitude in Sacramento, Boogie took over down the stretch and helped the Kings off to a 3-1 start, their best in 5 years. While it is true that Sacramento has had an easy start of the schedule (potentially playing 4 of the worst 5 teams in the league), things get serious on Wednesday as the Lakers come to town. That one should be fun. And there was also some excitement in football, as Jacob Tamme scored his first NFL touchdown for the Indianapolis Colts. The catch, which caused Larry Vaught...decked out for the game in an Indianapolis Colts jersey tucked into spontaneously combust with excitement, is hopefully the start of a productive year for Tamme as he fills in for the injured Dallas Clark. Tamme joins the other Cats getting it done in the NFL, which is slowly becoming the Kentucky Football League (ok not exactly, but work with me here folks). All in all, a good day for former Cats....a hearty salute to all of them.
