After claiming him off waivers and initially placing him at the Triple-A level, the former National Player of the Year will be going straight to the MLB right after the All-Star Break. "I'm going to be meeting the team in Oakland after the All-Star Break, so that's exciting news," Reed said in an interview with Rick Semmler of Sports 10. "[The organization] didn't say much about playing time, but just looking at the roster, it looks like I'm going to get some good at-bats in this year." In fact, Reed said the White Sox have been trying to trade for him for a few years now, but the price has been too high for the organization. When the Houston Astros placed him on wavers, they made sure to snatch him up as fast as they could. "They called me and said they were excited to have me," he said. "They've actually been trying to get me in a trade for a couple years, but the Astros were asking for too much." The former Kentucky star has a .153 career average over 48 games for Houston from 2016-18. He had spent this season at Triple-A Round Rock and was designated for assignment by the Astros on July 2.
