Former Louisville Player Fatally Shot

by:Matt Jones09/16/10
d-cov Tragic news from the city of Louisville today as former Card Daniel Covington was shot and killed late last night. Covington was a former walk-on for the Cards who became a scholarship player, playing in 22 games during his career for the Cards. Daniel came to UL from Lexington, where he graduated from Tates Creek High School and was a top player in the city. After the shooting in downtown Louisville, a car with two suspects was identified, one of which had also been shot himself, although at this time no charges have been filed. The senseless shooting of a man at such a young age is tragic and our prayers go out to his family and friends. The rivalry between the schools is good, but as the many thoughts sent out from UK players on Twitter this morning showcases, there are moments that are much bigger than any game. Rest in Peace Daniel Covington.
