Frank Martin Tuesday Notes

by:Matt Jones01/18/10
frank We should all thank the man above as Frank Martin's Kansas State victory over Texas means that Kentucky is the last remaining unbeaten team in college basketball. Martin is not only the scariest looking man in college basketball, but now he will live on in the hearts of UK fans everywhere for putting UK back on top of the college basketball world. It has not been since the 2003 season since UK has been the #1 team in America and now all that is good in the name of Keith Bogans can rectify that with a win Saturday versus Arkansas. If the Cats hold their end of the bargain, we will see what is a truly amazing occurrence....from the NIT to the #1 team in America in ten months. Simply astounding. Some thoughts.... --- Eric Bledsoe winning the SEC Freshman of the Week just confirms once again how amazing this recruiting class truly is. If the team makes the Final Four, it will go down as one of the best ever in college basketball. Still yet, John Wall has not been named SEC Player of the Week. He will likely be National Player of the Year and he hasnt been named Conference Player of the Week....fix that SEC. --- UK is trying to set a Gameday Attendance Record on February 13 in Rupp Arena. UK wants to fill up the Arena and will start giving away tickets on January 25. This will be a crazy event and KSR is going to be around all day with lots of special guests. If you can be in the area, you should as it will be a celebration of the rebirth of UK basketball. --- You gotta love that Bobby Knight had to call the game that puts UK at #1. That makes me smile. --- I am told that people around UK feel more confident about Brandon Knight and his feelings toward UK than at any point in a few months. I consider that to be good news. --- A number of UK football recruits committed to other schools in the last two days. The end of the class is a scramble for the Cats and makes me wonder where it will end up. As of now, it is either the 11th or 12th ranked class in the SEC and it could easily find itself at the bottom. --- In the Hoops for Haiti telethon, over a million dollars was raised and it is still going. As of tonight, the dinner with Ashley Judd and Calipari at his house was going for over $23,000. --- Thanks to the readers here, the KSR Podcast found its way into the Top Ten on iTunes for all Sports Podcasts again. I am told that we had record numbers of downloads and that it was the highest podcast following a single college in the history of iTunes. And Joe B Hall killed it. --- The Turkey Hunter noted that Vienna from "The Bachelor" sort of looks like Scott Padgett with long hair. I think he is onto something. --- In case you missed it, an announcer said tonight that Dirk Nowitski would have gone to Kentucky if he went to college. That is true. Now bring him with Lebron to campus. --- A big hearty Congratulations to the UK Cheerleading team for their 18th Championship this week. They win at a rate of no other program at any school. And the Dance Team came in 4th, likely utilizing the white pants along the way. --- Finally, if you are up late Ashley Judd will be on Jimmy Fallon. My guess is that she will mention the Cats and the telethon. My hope is that she didnt hear the Turkey Hunter's joke on the podcast, when I mentioned she was doing a filmed segment for the event and he asked, "is it going straight to DVD?" More all day....the Cats are back on top!
