The Kroger KSR Game of the Week has featured two rivalry grudge matches so far this season. Well, add another. We are going to Georgetown on Friday night for Frederick Douglass at Scott County

These two Central Kentucky 5A powerhouses have history. This is a rivalry that leads to non-specific names being used when describing the opponent. Phrases such as “That Team Up North” and “That Team on Winchester Road” have been thrown around over the stretch of the new-era rivalry. Friday will be a heated contest between two undefeated and ranked teams. Frederick Douglass is No. 2 in KSR’s High School Rankings, Scott County No. 24.

Frederick Douglass is coached by Nathan McPeek. He led his team to a state runner-up finish last season. The Broncos are 5-0 on the season and averaging 54 points per game and allowing just 7. (Please note that Lafayette forfeited on September 2 due to illness. The official final score was 1-0. This number was not factored into scoring averages.) Frederick Douglass is led by Kentucky commit and UK Legacy Ty Bryant. The multi-role contributor is a dynamic playmaker in all three phases. Auburn commit Jamarrion Harkless has added five tackles in 2022.

Scott County enters the matchup with a 4-0 record. The Cardinals are led by longtime head coach Jim McKee who brought the school a state championship in 2013. Scott County has defeated Franklin County 20-0, Lafayette 43-6, Bryan Station 21-20, and Dunbar 48-27 so far this season. Jacob Fryman paces the offense with 252 rushing yards and five scores. The top tackler on the team is Elijah Adams with 22 stops including 6 for loss, and 1 QB sack.

Kroger and KSR traveled to Title Town for the Danville-Boyle County rivalry earlier this year. We also went east last Friday for the Belfry at Pikeville historical series. This week we cover two Central Kentucky programs that flat out don’t like each other. Both are undefeated, extremely well-coached, and have high hopes for a state championship. Can’t wait.

Kroger is a staple in your hometown community just like high school football. There’s nothing quite like Friday nights in the Bluegrass. We are honored to share this journey with Kroger and you for the third consecutive season.
