Friday Morning Notes

snooples.jpg We live in a strange world. Snoop Dogg, for reasons that are not entirely clear, spoke to a Louisiana Rotary Club on Thursday with Les Miles, the coach of LSU. Why, I have no idea. How a rotary club could end up with that duo baffles me, but it happened. I have actually spoken at a couple of Rotary Clubs and from what I remember, I didnt see a whole lot of Snoop Dogg fans....but alas my friends, the world is changing. A few quick notes: --- The news for finding another point guard in the 2009 class turned a bit sour today as two of Kentucky's top four targets likely became headed elsewhere. John Wall and Darius Morris found their paths likely taking them in a different direction, with Wall likely headed to Baylor after his AAU coach's baby daddy's mama was hired by Baylor and Darius Morris projected to pick Michigan and be unheard of again in the next few days. The Chicago PG still seems like a UK likely target. --- Got to meet Josh Harrellson and Buddy Halcell tonight in Lexington for the first time outside of the context of a radio interview. I am happy to report that both were very nice, said they loved Kentucky and seemed to be enjoying their boneless wings at BW3s. Harrellson mentioned that he reads the website, loves the free throw picture and is a Kige fan (ok I made that last part up). He did however say that the UK fans have been great to him and he is really excited about the year. Halcell said that he will be one of six walk-ons (Perry, Krebs, Schnerbenske, Slone, Delph and Halcell) and there may even be a seventh. And yes, Harrellson had on jean shorts yet again. Long live Josh and Buddy! --- Found out some news tonight that former UK players are actually playing their summer pickup games that used to be in Lexington, at Georgetown College. Guys like Chuck Hayes, Keith Bogans, Tayshaun Prince, Marquis Estill, Eric Daniels, Lukask Obrzut and Ravi Moss have been playing games when in town at Georgetown College with a lot of the players that currently play at the NAIA school. It has apparently been hard to find pickup games with the UK guys, which has led to the unofficial games being played at Georgetown with the NAIA players, rather than the UK guys. I heard no real reason as to why, but it is a bit of a shame, as having guys like Tayshaun and Chuck, not to mention the other UK alumni, on campus with the current team would be great. --- Among Rich Brooks' many comments today was a confirmation that Michael Hartline is the leader at QB going into camp. That was likely the case before the Pulley situation, but his decision not to tell the coaches of the arrest presumably confirmed it. I am pulling for Hartline this August, as practice gets going on Monday. The first SportsNight on 93.9 FM begins on Monday at 6 pm....the website has been fixed (I am told) so we should be ready to go. We will have more stuff all day, including another great "Where in the World is Billy Gillispie" set of pictures. And tonight is Dave Matthews and Willie Nelson....and if you think I am going to be there, you are correct......
