Friday Recruiting is a fun thing.....

by:Matt Jones10/19/06
We are heading into the weekend, which means good times, and recruiting news. First of all, I will be LIVE at the Blue-White Game this weekend in Lexington at 2 pm. That means if you (a) are there, come visit and say hi to Kentucky Sports Radio and its crew. Or (b) if you ae not there, check in on THIS HERE BLOG for some live blogging from the game. I will give you some play by play action for those of you not fortunate enough to get to go to the game, and we will give you all you need to cheer on your Cats. So remember.....live blogging on Saturday, be there. Oh yeah, also if you are going to play Choose or Lose, do it.....times a wasting....scroll down below to play the game. Also, we want to have a segment on this week's show that is basically answering our listener/reader email. If you have any questions about recruiting, UK or even personal questions (yes ladies, Hubby is single), email me at [email protected] and we will use the questions this week. Now, onto the (somewhat abbreviated) news..... (1) Got much more about how the activities went down in terms of the increased recruitment of James Anderson. Apparently just a couple of weeks ago, Tubby made a trip to James Anderson's hometown and asked him if he would visit the school. Anderson said he was interested, but just didnt know if he would have time. Tubby kept attempting to convince James and to sell the notion ofplaying with Lucas and Patterson. Then came Jai's visit to UK last weekend. James talked to Jai on Sunday when he returned and after Jai said what a good time he had, Anderson immediately called and sat up the visit. That is nothing if not good news. (2) Jai Lucas and Anderson are visiting Oklahoma State this weekend, which makes it a big one for UK fans. I think it is likely that OSU is the only real competition for Lucas and thus Uk fans should cross their fingers and hope this one doesnt go well. In addition, with the new prospect of an Anderson visit, UK fans would like to see both players leave Stillwater without obviously, committing, but also having too great a time. A Lucas decision could come any time, but with Anderson's visit a couple of weeks away, keeping James undecided is nothing but positive. I also spoke with Jai about the Florida rumors. He said that the only way he would consider Florida was if he decided to "wait until the Spring", something that at this point he has no plans to do. He said Florida is trying to get involved, but if he makes a fall decision, they got in "too late" for them to be considered. (3) With the commitment today of Bud Mackey to Indiana (and remember folks, two years is a LOOOONG time), the recruitment of 08 target Scotty Hopson continues to be more interesting. Sources tell me that Ricky Pitino flew into Hop-town today in his private jet (flight takes 23 minutes) to see Scotty work out. He apparently then worked out himself in the Hop town gym.....which I hear is nice....before jetting back to practice with the UL bunch. Sources tell me that the Ville has a LOT of ground to make up in this contest and that UK is the early leader.....but things can change quickly.....especially if UNC ever decides to get involved. Finally, because it is a great weekend, I decided to post this UK montage, which always makes me happy: And while we are at it, here are four drunk girls who are UT fans.....
