Fringe Sports Friday!

Welcome back to everyone’s favorite part of the week, Fringe Sports Friday!

UK Hoops is on a seven game winning streak after whalloping Auburn 69-38 last night in Memorial.  Victoria Dunlap moved to second in school history in total rebounds and recorded a double double with 10 points and 10 boards.  Kentucky forced 28 turn overs en route to the beat down and they head to Tennessee to take on the number 4 ranked Volunteers on Monday.

-UK Hoops isn’t okay with just winning games, though, as Senior guard Carly Morrow was selected to the District 4 Capitol One Academic All-District Team yesterday.  Which is a really long name for an award for being smart.  Morrow has started in 15 games this season, while maintaining a 3.76 GPA.  Which is coincidentally the likely B.A.C. of one Mr. Drew Franklin now that he’s a day in on his Vegas trip.

-Kentucky’s Rifle team – quickly becoming one of my favorite teams to cover – mainly because they are really awesome.  While they didn’t have a match this week, they did shoot in an exibition against the United States Army Marksmanship Unit.  Sadly the team scores weren’t officially compiled, but looking at the individual scores it looks like the USAMU might have a better rifle team than UK.  Shocker.  I mean it’s not like they’re the army or anything.  UK’s rifle team takes on power house West Virginia this Saturday.  You can watch the match online with their cool interactive website.
