A Georgetown College football player, Colson "Johnnie" Machlitt, passed away this afternoon from a traumatic brain injury.
First reported by the Herald-Leader, police responded to the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house early Sunday morning around 12:20 p.m. Machlitt hit his head while jumping down a flight of steps at the three-story fraternity house.
A native of Villa Hills, Ky. and graduate of Dixie Heights High School, the 18-year old was entering his sophomore season as a defensive lineman for the Tigers. Georgetown's football season is set to begin next Thursday when they host Cumberland University.
