Georgia Amoore looks comfortable in Kentucky blue and white
In the past couple weeks, Kentucky Women’s Basketball has finally gotten back to work after a long offseason. We’ve seen behind the scenes looks from the players themselves of the new Memorial Coliseum, workouts, and outside-of-practice hangouts. Not only that, but Kentucky WBB’s official accounts have been sharing some footage to keep us entertained this summer.
This offseason is growing my confidence in this team day by day. Especially since head coach Kenny Brooks brought in some extremely talented players from his former school, Virginia Tech. Georgia Amoore, for example, might be the key to this Kentucky team. ESPN projected the guard to go top 10 in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Instead, the transfer elected to finish out her college career with Brooks at Kentucky.
Finally, the Australia native is back to practice. But, instead of being in maroon and orange, Amoore is clad in perfect Kentucky blue and white. Well, technically gray. And a darker gray.
Amoore was Kenny Brooks’ diamond in the rough. The guard finished her time as a Hokie third in career points (1,853), third in games started (121), fourth in double-figure games (92), and second in three-pointers made (293). Amoore boasts first in career assists (656) and first in assist/turnover ratio (1.8). She earned MVP of the 2023 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament, where she led her team to a tourney victory.

As a freshman, Amoore started in 23 of 25 games. She averaged 11.8 points, 4.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. Since then, the former Hokie just kept improving. She finished her time at Virginia Tech averaging 18.8 points and 6.8 assists per game.
At just 5-foot-6, Amoore uses her agility and shot accuracy to be essential on the court. If we keep seeing this kind of production from Amoore at Memorial Coliseum, the Wildcats are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
