Georgia football will be taking the business-as-usual approach for its home games in 2021. Sanford Stadium will be full – 92,746 fans, to be exact – this season with no mask or social-distancing requirements. The school will not require proof of vaccination for those in attendance, either.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution confirmed with a UGA spokesman Tuesday that the school plans to operate with normal game day policies and procedures this season. The move comes after Sanford Stadium allowed just 20,000 fans in with masks required in 2020.

LSU requires proof of vaccination or negative test

Georgia football’s updated plan came just hours after LSU announced its strict COVID-19 policies at Tiger Stadium. The school will require all guests 12 years of age or older to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of entry.

“We have the best fans in college football, and we are doing everything we can to ensure their experience in Tiger Stadium this fall is safe and enjoyable,” LSU Director of Athletics Scott Woodward said Tuesday. “When our fans arrive on Saturdays to cheer on the Tigers, they will have confidence that we have taken measures to mitigate their health risks. Our football team has reached 99.1% vaccination, and we are incredibly proud of them for doing their part to protect their team and their community. We are confident our fans will do the same, and I encourage all Tiger fans to receive vaccinations today.”

Kentucky’s game day plans

As for Kentucky’s game day plan, that remains up in the air. KSR’s own Matt Jones did, however, report Sunday that the school plans to require masks indoors, in elevators, and in crowded areas at Kroger Field.

UK Athletics lists those areas as:

  • Restrooms,
  • Longship Club,
  • Central Bank Club,
  • Inside of the Lexus Loge,
  • The Central Bank Press Box,
  • All elevators,
  • The KFB Recruit Room,
  • The Player/Guest Entrance,
  • First Aid rooms,
  • Offices,
  • and any other spaces that are fully enclosed.

As of today, masks will not be required for vaccinated fans when entering, while in the seating bowl, or individual suites. Unvaccinated fans must wear a mask at all times both indoors and outdoors.

The full COVID-19/mask policy can be found on UKAthletics.com.
