Michael Eaves, a UK and South Hopkins High School (Nortonville, Ky.) graduate, will join Dave Baker and Rex Chapman on TNT's homer broadcast on Saturday night -- and hopefully Monday too. You may remember Eaves from his time at WKYT, from 1993-99, when he anchored "This Week in Kentucky Basketball" and "27 Sports Spectrum." Before then, he worked for Fox Sports West in Los Angeles, anchoring "Clippers Live" and "Angels Live" and served as sideline reporter for the Lakers and Dodgers broadcasts. Eaves has also appeared on Fox Sports' national Pac-12 football coverage and served as a studio host for the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament. In a four-year stint in Memphis, Eaves was a local sports anchor and sideline reporter for the Grizzles. To get to know him further, check out this profile from the UK Alumni Association. Here is a teaser:
“I was a pretty good athlete while growing up in Southwestern Kentucky, but once I realized a professional career was not in the cards for me, I decided to pursue a career that would keep me involved in sports, and sports broadcasting seemed like a good way to stay close to the games,” Eaves says. “So when I enrolled at UK, I decided to major in journalism with the sole goal of becoming a sportscaster.”
