We're just 3 hours away from Kentucky's first game as the number one team in the land.  Here are a few tidbits to get you ready for the big night with Brad Nessler and Jimmy Dykes on ESPN. -- ESPN Classic is showing the 1997 South Carolina-Kentucky game right now.  It's fun looking back at the old Kentucky team taking on a South Carolina group of Tupac Shakur look-alikes.  I won't tell you who wins but I'll warn you that the '97 Gamecocks were good.  If I'm not mistaken, they won the SEC that year. -- For all of you gamblers out there, the Cats are a 5.5 point favorite over the Gamecocks tonight.  I don't condone gambling, but, I do condone winning easy money.  I just asked Matt for an advance on my KSR weekly paycheck and I plan on betting all $7.68 of it on UK to cover.  Hopefully, we'll come out and show the world that we deserve to be #1 with a 20+ point beatdown. -- South Carolina's Devan Downey seems to think he will be the best point guard on the floor tonight.  Downey is the third leading scorer in the SEC and people in the know say he is playing the best basketball of his life right now.  Don't be surprised to see some zone defense from the Cats tonight to slow down South Carolina's one man offense.  Also, don't be surprised to see John Wall eat Downey's lunch. -- A Matt Jones-less Live Blog is in the works for tonight's game.  Beisner and I, along with whoever else shows up, will try to keep up with the action and type at the same time.  I can't promise a very informative show, but I can assure you it will be an entertaining one. -- And, if you need any more reason to get hyped up for the game, how 'bout a look back at last year's contest in Columbia...
