Have we seen Benny Snell at Kroger Field for the final time?

After Benny Snell's second touchdown, Kroger Field was filled with the sound of Elton John's "Benny and the Jets."  As fans soaked up the moment, one question lingered: is this the last time we'll hear that celebration at Kroger Field? Mark Stoops stopped just short of saying this was Benny Snell's final game at Kroger Field. "I think that position is totally different from some of the other guys.  I'll let Benny make that announcement at the appropriate time," Stoops said.  "That position is clearly different.  The upside -- he stands some to lose by coming back, where other guys, they all gain by coming back.  That position is really different.  You have to look at it differently." At the end of the season Snell will have a conversation with his head coach about his future, but Stoops said, "I don't think it'll be a long conversation." If this was Benny's final performance at Kroger Field, he left it all on the field.  Snell gained 116 yards, his 17th career 100-yard game, on 26 attempts and scored two touchdowns.  Now with 12 touchdowns on the season, Herschel Walker is the only other player in SEC history with more than 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. Benny still has to do some work to catch Sonny Collins.  Snell is 207 yards away from becoming UK's all-time leading rusher.  When Stoops was informed of the figure during his press conference, Stoops said: "We better get going." Snell will be shooting for 207 when Kentucky travels to Cardinal Stadium next Saturday at 7:00. [mobile_ad]
