Hell No! Need-to-Know Wednesday Won't Go!

(Editor's note: The usual author of the Need-to-Know Wednesday column, Chris Tomlin, is currently on strike with the Writers' Guild and has not reported to work this week. In lieu of new content, Kentucky Sports Radio has elected to reprint stockpiled pieces from Tomlin's history with the site until the situation is resolved. The following piece was originally published in Kentucky Sports Radio Magazine on February 3, 1986. We deeply regret any inconvenience and hope an agreement will be reached soon.) Friends, As we still reel from the N.C. State upset last night, I think we're all somewhat puzzled by how this team will end up. Truly, though Kenny Walker is totally rad, how this year's team will fare in the tourney is anyone's guess. Add into that growing fears of Russian attack and the recent events aboard the Achille Lauro, I think we all need a silver lining right now. So on to the good news... Like the theme from St. Elmo's Fire, Roger Hardin is a man in motion! A weak night last night for the Valparaiso native with only two points, but eight assists make him the perfect Tubbs to Walker's Crockett! Here's my prediction: Sophomore big man Rob Lock is going to make BIG WAVES in the future! He'll be dancing on the ceiling of UK History one day...unless Cupid shoots his arrow first -- my sources tell me he "can't fight the feeling" for former Lady Cat Valerie Still!. That's the Power of Love! La di da di! There's news on the recruiting front! I've been sending letters back and forth for weeks with those in the know on Georgia's Eric Manuel! Will he choose Kentucky? It's anybody's guess, but from the letters in MY mailbox it looks like he's headed someplace where "everybody knows your name" -- Rupp Arena! Be sure to read the newspapers and find out if it's true! Finally, Kudos to coach Eddie Sutton -- I think his time at UK will go down among our finest ages...now there's a guy I'd like to take out for a beer sometime! That's all for this week, folks. Next week I hope to have a review of hot Molly Ringwald's "Pretty in Pink" -- if I can stop playing Tecmobowl long enough! See you at the roller rink! Until next time, here's a little hilarity to get you through your day.
