Hey, Kentucky doesn't have to overcome a massive halftime deficit vs. Texas!
How about Kentucky not needing a miraculous second-half effort for a change? That always feels good — even if it doesn’t necessarily mean the Wildcats were world-beaters in the first 20 minutes vs. Texas.
It’s all tied up at 40-40 at halftime against the Longhorns, a game that neither team has led by more than five points for a back-and-forth affair inside Rupp Arena. UK has led by as many as five compared to three for UT.
There haven’t been many surprises in terms of individual standouts, either, as both teams’ leading scorers are taking care of business for their programs, headlined by Otega Oweh and Aberdeen for the blue and white and Dailyn Swain and Matas Vokietaitis doing the same for the burnt orange.
Both Oweh and Aberdeen have scored 10 points apiece for the Wildcats, the former on 5-13 shooting and the latter on 4-8 with a pair of triples. Elsewhere, Malachi Moreno has six points, three rebounds and three assists, followed by Kam Williams with five points and Collin Chandler with four points and four rebounds. Andrija Jelavic only has two points, but leads the team with five boards in just eight minutes.
