Madison Winstead is currently a senior standout at Dunbar High School, on track to join the UK swim team this fall and possibly compete in the 2020 Olympics.  Unfortunately, Winstead has experienced a life-changing year.  Last January her mother Shane was diagnosed with an aggressive form of colon cancer.  Madison couldn't wait until next fall for her first collegiate swim meet.  She needed to show her mother that she could compete at the highest level. In an unprecedented event, the NCAA granted a waiver for Winstead, allowing her to be the first high schooler to ever compete at the collegiate level.  The road that lies ahead for the Winsteads is unknown, but last night the Winstead family celebrated Madison's success before she joins the UK family.  The Today Show shares their emotional story.
