Hip Hop at its Best

As I was flipping through the channels today, I noticed that VH1 was doing the "40 Least Hip Hop Moments" in Hip Hop. There were lots of great moments on the list (I had forgotten that Rodney Dangerfield did a rap video) but there seemed to be something left off. This is what it was. In the 1980s as part of the nation's attempt at getting kids to Say No to Drugs, the then-champion Los Angeles Lakers produced a hip hop video telling kids how cool it is to be drug-free. There are so many things to love about this video. You and your friends can debate the silliness of all the participants' sun glasses, who looks dorkier Kurt Rambis or Pat Riley and whether AC Green ever considered making a similar video about the other things he said "no" to. Videos like this show me just how far we have come, as nowadays even the PA System operator at Commonwealth Stadium would look at this and go, "man they need to update their style." Oh yeah and Kurt.....very nice pants.....
