Hip Hop Sheray

After some controlled hindsight, I have decided that some things in this post by our KSR "staff" may just have been to mean to leave up here on the front page. But for now, we will celebrate the good of Sheray Thomas We continue our UK preseason basketball player previews today with the immortal Canadian Sheray Thomas. In what seems like a continuing theme about the senior class, Thomas has had a roller coaster ride in his time at UK. He came out of the blocks strong and seemed like a freshman who could contribute, showing tenacity on the glass and a nose for the basketball. He played behind Chuck Hayes a great deal his freshman year, but while in the games, he gave Kentucky fans a glimpse of potential that led many to believe he could easily be the Modesto Man's heir apparent. Thomas' career however was derailed a bit the next season by an illness that took away much of his season. He played sporadically after a long absence, but during that season the loss of conditioning and the effects of the illness were obvious. Last season was another difficult one to analyze for Thomas as his game was all over the place. He showed a surprising ability to shoot outside jumpers, becoming one of the team's consistent three point shooters during a ten game stretch. In addition, early in the season while Randolph Morris was out, Thomas controlled the middle fairly well, including playing an excellent game in UK's dismantling of Louisville in Rupp Arena. However the tough Sheray showcased himself a lot as well. His rebounding aggression often seemed non-existent as he let the Joakim Noahs, Tyrus Thomases and Major Wingates of the world bully him around the court. He was consistently outmatched on defense, often having to guard the increasing number of super athletic power forwards in the SEC and coming up very short. Due to roster shortages, Thomas had to play a lot and it was often his man causing UK problems. Thus he has taken a great deal of blame from UK fans (and this show/blog) which may not be fair. As can be seen by the posts below, Thomas emotes a wide range of feelings from UK fans and not all of it is pretty. But he has a potential starting spot waiting for him this year and a chance to redeem himself on a team that will need his contribution. Here is hoping it happens.
