I watched an entire Vanderbilt football game so now I'm an expert on Vanderbilt football

Confession: I watched an entire Vanderbilt football game this past Saturday. Start to finish. Every single second.
Now before you judge me, let me explain.
While you were out enjoying Keeneland or picking pumpkins or getting married or doing whatever it is you like to do on Kentucky's one weekend off in the fall, I got hit in the face with an unexpected illness that had me wishing for death. I still don't know what it was because I couldn't crawl far enough to see a doctor, but I assume it was whatever killed all of those people on the Oregon Trail, maybe worse. I couldn't eat. I couldn't sleep. I was burning up. I was freezing cold. I was in bed for 48 straight hours (outside of an hour or two laying on the bathroom floor) and if not for my girlfriend nurse serving me meds and fluids through a straw, I don't think I'd be sitting here talking to you right now.
But there was one good thing about my weekend from hell: it allowed me to watch a lot of football, more than I've ever seen in a single weekend, which is how I saw an entire Vanderbilt football game. I hope you understand now. I would never subject myself to hours of Commodore football if there were anything else to do; unfortunately, given my state, it was all I could do.
So as someone who has seen a Vanderbilt football game in its entirety, I now consider myself an expert on Vanderbilt football. And there is no better time to report on my new expertise, considering Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt in a few days.
Here's all you need to know...
If there are people in the stands at a Vanderbilt football game, they are cheering for the other team or their son plays for Vanderbilt.
This past weekend, Florida fans dominated the crowd in Nashville.
So don't expect a huge turnout in the visitors' section of Kroger Field this Saturday. And if you do cross anyone in Vanderbilt gear before the game, just welcome them to Lexington with a smile and tell them you hope their son plays well and stays healthy. Don't worry about whether or not they have a son on the team. They have a son on the team.
Running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn is explosive.
Believe it or not, Vanderbilt led Florida, 21-3, in the first half. I actually didn't believe it. I thought it was the meds messing with my brain. But Vandy did in fact hold a commanding lead, and it was all because of one Ke'Shawn Vaughn.
In the first quarter alone, Vaughn had a 43-yard rush to set up a touchdown and a reception of 75 yards to score another, but left the game early in the second quarter with an undisclosed injury. Vanderbilt couldn't move the ball once he left the game, and never scored another touchdown.

He is expected to return against Kentucky.
Vanderbilt's defense looked good against Florida for like a second.
Vandy had two huge takeaways early in the game and was very disruptive to everything Felipe Franks was doing at quarterback for the Gators... and then that ended. When the final horn went off and the party moved to Broadway for $7 domestics at Tootsie's, Vandy had allowed almost 600 yards of total offense, while giving up 12 of 19 third conversions. Oh, and Florida converted all three of its fourth down tries.
Kyle Shurmur chews on his mouthpiece like Steph Curry and can't be taken seriously.
His dad, New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur, was in attendance and they showed him on TV a lot.
Sure, Vanderbilt almost upset Florida, but Kentucky shouldn't have a problem getting a win.
Outside of Ke'Shawn Vaughn running wild on Florida's defense early in the game, Vanderbilt didn't do too much to scare me. They have another weapon in Kalija Lipscomb at receiver, but nobody is having nightmares about Vandy's offense.
