In-state star Jager Burton pushes back commitment date

2021 four-star offensive lineman and in-state standout Jager Burton has pushed back his decision date.
Burton, a star for Frederick Douglass HS in Lexington, announced this afternoon that after originally planning an August 24 commitment, he will now have to delay the announcement due to the coronavirus.
Once the dust settles a bit, the 6-foot-4, 271-pound offensive guard will finish up his five official visits and make a commitment not long after.
“My original plan was to commit on August 24, but due to the coronavirus, many of my official visits have been pushed back,” Burton said in a Twitter post. “With that being said I will be committing shortly after my five official visits are done.”

Ranked by Rivals as the No. 149 player overall in the 2021 recruiting class, Burton is the top-rated recruit in the Commonwealth.
Back in 2018, Mark Stoops and the UK football program hosted Burton on an unofficial visit where they extended the four-star prospect his first scholarship offer.
“It was shocking,” the in-state talent said in a recent interview with KSR. “My parents weren’t even with me, I just had one of my friends, then Kentucky did it. I cried. It was like a dream come true. I’m forever grateful for them being the first school to take a chance on me.”
Since then, Burton received offers from nearly every major school in college football. He has narrowed his finalists to seven and has selected which schools he will officially visit: Alabama, Kentucky, Clemson, Ohio State and Oregon.
Is he favoring any of the five schools that will receive an official visit?
“There’s honestly no leader. I’m pretty even on all five,” he told KSR. “I’m hoping the official visits — from what I’ve heard they make it really clear that you’ll know where you wanna be. I hope I get some clarity and I’ll realize [where I want to be].”
Will Kentucky be able to secure a commitment from the top-ranked prospect in the state?
