Dekel Crowdus announced Sunday evening that he will be a Kentucky Wildcat. Recruited by Vince Marrow, Kentucky beat out nine other finalists: Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Ohio State, Michigan, Ole Miss and South Carolina. Crowdus is considered one of the 50 best wide receivers in America. He spent his junior season playing at IMG Academy in Florida. This spring he opted to return to Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington to complete his prep career. The four-star prospect is the No. 2 player in the state, trailing only his teammate, offensive guard Jager Burton. Kentucky's 2021 recruiting class increases to eight. Crowdus is the first four-star to join their ranks. He's accompanied by two other wide receivers, Chauncey Magwood and Armond Scott, and one other in-state star, North Hardin running back La'Vell Wright. Mark Stoops' recruiting success has been unprecedented at the University of Kentucky, but securing talented skill position players has never been easy. Crowdus is the highest-ranked traditional wide receiver to commit to the Cats in the Stoops era. An explosive playmaker with incredible top-end speed, Crowdus can immediately contribute in the Wildcats' wide receiver room.
