In the Win Two Thousand - QFS

by:Christopher Johns12/21/09
conanyear2000 Well, that went about as we all expected, didn't it? John Wall made impressive (*cough* understatement *cough*) plays, DeMarcus Cousins dominated the inside, and Patrick Patterson turned in his usual solid performance. The biggest surprise of your University of Kentucky Wildcats two thousandth win was the excellent play of DeAndre Liggins. Liggins got some PT early, drained a couple of threes, and erased any lingering doubts about his ability or attitude. Additionally, for those of us watching from home, I thought ESPN did a great job. Sending Jamaal Mashburn to provide color commentary was simply inspired. The cut aways to pictures and video of significant moments in UK history were positive and classy. Jeannine Edwards' multiple interviews with various UK illuminati were interesting and, in the case of Joe B. Hall, touching. My only complaint was that the game was on ESPNU rather than ESPN2 (for the HD and larger audience), but that isn't a huge deal overall. Considering the lumps (mostly justified) that The Death Star of Sports Broadcasting has endured regarding their treatment of Kentucky over the past couple of weeks, it should be noted when they do well. Congrats to the team for a great win. Enjoy this one, everybody. A full recap is coming shortly.
