It looks like Missouri will be without its star linebacker this weekend

A win over Missoui on Saturday would essentially clinch bowl eligibility for Kentucky for the first time since 2010 (pardon me for penciling Austin Peay in as a win, but the Governors haven't won a game this season), and the Cats' chances of taking down the Tigers got another boost due to some unfortunate injury news. Missouri's star linebacker Michael Scherer left Mizzou's game vs. Middle Tennessee State on Saturday with a knee injury, and, last night, rumors spread that he is out for the year with an ACL and MCL tear: https://twitter.com/Peter_Baugh/status/790737319745642496 Missouri has yet to confirm the news, but I think it's safe to assume Scherer will not play vs. Kentucky, which is a huge blow to Mizzou's defense. He's considered the heart and soul of the unit, leading the team in tackles with 53 total and handling on-field communications. Try as Mizzou might, players like Scherer can't be replaced. Scherer's injury is one of many for the Tigers, who saw several significant players go down vs. MTSU: cornerback John Gibson, defensive tackle Terry Beckner, safety Thomas Wilson, and tight end Jason Reese. Missouri also played without right guard Alec Abeln, who sprained his ankle in practice last week. #BeatMizzou
