It's so hard to say goodbye to January 2009

So, with that in mind, we'll spend these last 12 business days of 2009 looking back at each month that shaped your Kentucky sports year and highlighting all the times we were really smart or funny. We've laughed, we've cried, we've met Eric C. Conn, but most of all, we've grown closer as a family. We love you, KSR readers.  Sometimes we just insult you or ban your IP because we love you so much that it hurts.  Don't ever forget it. - Kentucky football was saved as Rich Brooks announced he was coming back to make a run at four-straight bowl games. - Behind the incomparable Mike Hartline, Kentucky beats East Carolina in the Liberty Bowl, 25-19. - Sosa happened. - Two days later, Mr. Wilkersley found Cards fans still celebrating, and reported here. - The Liberty Bowl excitement wouldn't die as The Onion wrote about Ventrell Jenkins and his big run. - We received word that Tim Couch was mulling a Senate run as a member of the Republican Party. - The University of Kentucky released the Bill Keightley Audio Interview Collection. - The Cats earned their first SEC victory by beating Vandy, 70-60. - The game also introduced the world to Dancin' Darren Moscoe, who got some TV face time. - We got word that Jeremy Jarmon would return for his senior season....until the NCAA ripped it away from him. - Tennessee Hate Day!!!!!! - Jodie Meeks had a pretty good game against the Vols - Apparently encouraged by Meeks' 54 points, Trevard Lindley announced his return to UK for his senior year. - While Billy Gillispie's recruiting tactics were gaining attention, the NCAA ruled coaches couldn't contact middle schoolersanymore. If only Myspace could do the same. - Breaking hearts of UK fans, Mark Coury transferred to Cornell. - Nerd fight! - In whatever is the opposite of foreshadowing, the Cats beat Georgia. This time. - Sadly, a dangerous gang overtook Lexington. - In the political story of the season, KSR nearly gets Obama'd. - Just a few months after winning a title with an ineligible player, Bill Self broke an NCAA rule when recruiting John Wall. A very tiny one. - A Raycom mistake gave birth to Dwight Perry picture day. - We finally were able to see the passion of a Cats fan caught on video. - Your booing was blamed. - After being named as Gillispie blamer #1, Matt Jones takes on Jeff Goodman the only way he knows how. Interview. - Kentucky beat Alabama and Ramon Harris collapsed at halftime. - Ole Miss happened. The season never recovered. - Jeanine Edwards Part I happened.  - We  found out that Kentucky parents raise their children right.  - CBS' Gregg Doyel stopped by for the first ever KSR Live Chat.  - After a loss to South Carolina, BTI lashed out at the fans. January, you were a good one and we're glad we got to know you. February, let's catch up tomorrow.
