J.B. Holmes finishes first round of U.S. Open 3-under-par

Holmes told the Cincinnati Enquirer he was pleased with his first round. "Good start, long way to go yet," Holmes said. "You try to hit it to spots. You hit good shots here, you get rewarded. And the greens are perfect. ‘’ Holmes finished his first day at Erin Hills with six birdies and three bogeys. The first round has not been completed, but a solid first day for the Campbellsville native. Holmes will tee off tomorrow at 2:47 p.m. ET (1:47 p.m. local time) with Gary Woodland and  Jason Kokrak. Rickie Fowler currently leads with a 7-under 65.
