“I’m not f****** leaving!”

Kentucky senior inside linebacker Jacquez Jones announced in tremendous fashion on Sunday night that he’ll return to play one more season for the Wildcats football team.

The one-time Ole Miss transfer was a leader on UK’s defense in 2021, racking up 86 total tackles (40 solo) to go with four pass breakups, 3.5 tackles for loss, three QB hits, 0.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception in 12 games this season. His return is massive news for the team’s expectations heading into 2022.

Jones did not play in Kentucky’s Jan. 1 Citrus Bowl win over the Iowa Hawkeyes due to injury, but that is not expected to linger into the offseason and he will fight for another starting position.

He’s not the first super-senior to announce a return to Kentucky on Sunday, either. Sixth-year senior linebacker Jordan Wright announced through social media earlier in the day that he’ll come back for one more season at UK.

Brad White’s Kentucky defense looks to be in good shape heading into the spring.
