blackmon Yesterday, four-star shooting guard James Blackmon Jr. took an unofficial visit to UK, and according to his interview with the Courier-Journal's Steve Jones, had a great time. Blackmon and his father were on campus for about five hours, and toured the campus, Wildcat Coal Lodge, and practice facility with John Calipari, even getting in some shots with the Harrison Twins, Marcus Lee and Julius Randle. Blackmon's father played for UK in the 80's, and his son says his dad was pretty shocked by how much his old stomping ground had changed:
“My dad was real surprised at how things have changed, and he was kind of mad how the locker room looks so much better. ...They had his pictures on his wall, and he showed me where he used to be when we were around the campus, and he said he had a lot of memories.”
The younger Blackmon says he was impressed by UK's facilities and said Calipari told him if he came to Kentucky, he'd use him at shooting guard and at point guard. Cal also gave him the standard "Kentucky isn't for everyone" speech, but Blackmon isn't scared:
“I’m really the type of player that likes challenges,” he said. “I’m not really scared to play with good players around me and four other guys like me around me. But I haven’t really made any decisions.”
Blackmon enjoyed his visit so much he finalized his plans to take an official for Big Blue Madness in October. Today, he's taking an unofficial visit to Louisville. Don't go to the dark side, James.
