Jared Swopshire Getting a Change of Scenery

by:Matthew Hays04/12/12
Every cloud has a silver lining and that lining for former U of L forward, Jared Swopshire, is that he'll get to hang out with me next year. After being told by Louisville coach, Rick Pitino, that there wouldn't be a scholarship available for him next season, Swopshire and his father, Teddy, began the search for a school that he could play at for his last season of eligibility. The school they chose was Northwestern. After sitting out the 2010-2011 season with a groin injury, Swopshire has one year remaining of his college athletics career. The only stipulation for a transfer with immediate playing time was that it had to be a school that offered a graduate program not offered by the University of Louisville. Regardless of what he ends up studying, one thing will be true about Jared's stay in Evanston: He will receive a lot more playing time than he did in his last gig. The craziest thing about this transition is that if Northwestern is able to make the tournament for the first time in school history next season, Swopshire will achieve school legend status.
