Jeff Goodman Plays Nice

Goodman It's hard to tell whether this is just pre- or post-sneeze. We give Jeff Goodman a hard time around here, mainly because he likes to troll UK fans, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.  Goodman had one of those times yesterday when talking about the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.  He made a few notes about international players, Shabazz Muhammed, and player measurements (which really helped Nerlens Noel, who measured in at just under 7' with shoes).  Then, he went out of his way to give a little compliment to Coach Cal and his team for next season, while simultaneously making fun of the Phoenix Suns:
New Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough was in attendance. I've known him for a decade or so, and he's a rising star in the business -- but he's certainly got his work cut out for him. He has to hire a staff and a head coach, and he's also got a roster that pales in comparison to the one John Calipari will possess in Lexington next season. When your best player is Goran Dragic, you have some major work to do. Remember, though, McDonough drafted Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley -- and he'll have a lottery pick and also a late first-rounder to begin to build the franchise back.
Maybe he didn't think UK fans would see it, or maybe he's genuinely trying to be nice.  Either way, next year's team will probably bring about the same questions that last year's team did: is a Kentucky vs. Horrible NBA Team matchup always going to go to the pros?  Everybody mentioned the Bobcats previously, but maybe next year the talk will be "Julius Randle and Co. vs. the Suns."  Who knows.  Either way, thanks for the compliment, Jeff.  Even if you had to insult somebody else in the process.
