Jeff Goodman thinks....well, I'm not really sure

by:Thomas Beisner01/08/09
After his assertion earlier this week that point guard is a major area of concern for Kentucky, which I don't think is too terrible of a point, our good buddy Jeff Goodman followed up with a compliment to head coach Billy Gillispie. Kind of. You see, Goodman is quite impressed with the job Gillispie has done so far.....with this crappy team that he has. Here is what Goodman had to say in his "Ten things I learned' column this afternoon:

Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie is getting all he can out of the Wildcats' roster. To go into Freedom Hall and nearly pull out a win against Louisville was extremely impressive. Gillispie has two players right now who are all-league guys in Jodie Meeks and Patrick Patterson and not much else. The point guard situation is an abomination with Michael Porter and DeAndre Liggins. Porter belongs in the Missouri Valley or the Big West, while Liggins is a major work-in-progress in terms of running a team. Fortunately for Gillispie, he's in the SEC and his club will be able to compete with just about anyone.

Compliment Gillispie? Check. Compliment Meeks and Patterson? Check. Insult everyone else? Yep. Further insult Michael Porter and DeAndre Liggins? Uh huh. Dress Michael Porter up in a mid-major dress and slap the lipstick off of his face? I'd say so. Cap it off with an SEC insult? Definitely. My question to you isn't whether or not we should be mad because, with this guy, it's just "another day, another insult".  What I want to know is:  How much of this is actually true? Discuss.
