Jimmy Fallon's Breaking Bad Parody is a Love Letter to the Best Show on TV

Last night’s episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon featured the show’s long-rumored parody of Breaking Bad and it was awesome. “Joking Bad” not only recreates some of the most memorable scenes from Breaking Bad‘s first three seasons in surprisingly clever ways, but it also manages to sneak in some big time cameos.

“Joking Bad” once again confirms that, whether you love or hate Fallon’s brand of smirky humor, he is late night’s reigning king of creating bits and parodies tailor-made to be shared online, and it will be interesting to see if he can keep it up when he takes over The Tonight Show early next year. But it also serves as a painful reminder that Breaking Bad is winding down and, in just a few short weeks, Mr. White, Jesse, Hank, Marie, Sklyar, Walter Jr., and all the other characters we love and love to hate will be no more (although news broke yesterday that the spinoff featuring Bob Odenkirk’s sleazy yet lovable Saul Goodman character is really going to happen over at AMC!).

I’d be fine if Fallon and his team decide to run “Joking Bad” indefinitely. It’s not Breaking Bad, but right now it’s the best replacement we’ve got.
