Tragedy has struck J.J. Weaver’s family. A UK spokesperson confirmed the redshirt freshman linebacker’s father was murdered early Wednesday morning.

Albany, GA police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of 44-year-old Terrance Weaver. WFXL reports one other person was injured in the incident that took place just before 2:30 a.m. Three people have been arrested in connection with the shooting while one suspect remains at large.

Weaver was born in Ft. Lauderdale and moved to Louisville as an adolescent. At Moore High School he became a highly sought after four-star prospect, recruited by Vince Marrow to Kentucky over Louisville, Miami and Purdue. Weaver redshirted and played in three games in 2019, recording five tackles, one for loss, and a quarterback hurry against Vanderbilt. He’s projected to be a significant contributor for Brad White’s defense this fall.

Weaver’s family remains in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
