After hyping up a "big announcement" on social media over the last 48 hours, we now know what Kentucky head coach John Calipari has up his sleeve. In a Facebook Live conversation with ESPN's Jordan Cornette, Calipari announced a weekly live video series called "Coffee With Cal" set to begin next week. "(After working to help locally, we asked ourselves), "What can we do nationally? How can we help? How can we bring people together?" With this, all we ask is to tune in. Tune in at 10 o'clock on Monday (mornings)," Calipari said. So what will fans be watching? For "15 to 20 weeks," Calipari will host the Facebook Live series with a new special guest each week, with several confirmed guests such as Mark Cuban, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dick Vitale, and a former president, among others. "Part of it is I want to do something that's uplifting and creates hope and gives people ideas of what to do for the next month," Calipari said. "We're going to have some great guests on like a former president - I'm not going to mention names yet - Mark Cuban is gonna be on, we're in touch with Dr. Anthony Fauci. He's really busy right now, I was hoping he'd be the first guest, but he may not be the first guest now. Dick Vitale and I talked today, I told him what I was doing, he said, "I wanna get on! Let me get on!" I'm like "Oh my gosh, we're gonna get Dick Vitale on." So we're going to have Dick on. Who's more uplifting than Dick Vitale?" Calipari also added that he's going to also bring on athletes, leaders, and coaches, with the end goal being to raise enough money to feed 10 million people during the COVID-19 pandemic. "It's going to be 15 to 20 weeks, so we're going to have enough time. I wanna get some athletes on this. I want to get leaders, maybe some coaches on this," Calipari said. "They may have some suggestions, or the viewers can ask, "Can we get so and so on? Try to get so and so." To try to get people to understand, again, that the goal right now is, can we feed 10 million people and how do we do that? How do we do that through sponsorships?" So what will they be discussing each week? Outside of typical interviews with each guest, they will also be answering questions from fans. "We're going to be answering questions. I hope people are out there and asking me what I'm doing, what I'm reading. Like, again, structuring your day is so important to keep going. Thinking ahead and staying in the moment of "Okay, let's get through today. Let's make this the greatest day we can make it." ... If you're on this Facebook, on Mondays at 10 a.m., that helps us." Calipari added that he will be tying in "Coffee With Cal" with his upcoming summer camps - which have been moved to August at the earliest - to maximize potential donations for those in need.
