Kentucky men’s basketball will be without several key pieces for Monday’s season opener.

Ahead of the 6:30 p.m. EST tipoff, Wildcats’ head coach John Calipari confirmed on his pregame radio show that Oscar Tshiebwe and Sahvir Wheeler, who are both dealing with minor injuries, will not play against Howard. Calipari also added that sophomore Daimion Collins, whose father recently passed away unexpectedly, is also out for the game and will return to Lexington later Monday night.

Tshiebwe is still rehabbing from an offseason knee procedure while Wheeler is dealing with his own knee ailment that he suffered during the first exhibition game on Oct. 30. Calipari has said previously that he expected Tshiebwe to sit out the first two regular season games while Wheeler was listed as a game-time decision. Unfortunately, UK will be without both against the Bison.
