John Conner Released By The Bengals
Sorry, Kentucky and Cincinnati Bengals fans. According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer the former Kentucky FB affectionately nicknamed “The Terminator” was released by the team today as NFL rosters must be cut down to 53 by the end of the weekend.
From CincyJungle:
I wouldn’t call the move surprising — more disappointing. However, that should give Orson Charles and even tight end Alex Smith a level of comfort. It’s also clear that the Bengals are shying away from the traditional fullback role that they’ve favored over the years — save for ’10 when Reggie Kelly was the H-back
Conner looks to be a casualty of the changing of the guard when it comes to offenses in the NFL, as most teams are starting to go towards a spread attack, leaving traditional FB’s like Conner out in the dust. Best of wishes to you, Terminator.
