What do Montgomery Gentry, the Backstreet Boys, Sturgill Simpson and John Legend all have in common? They’re all a part of the Big Blue Nation. Well, that may be the case for the latter if all goes well for the Wildcats this weekend.

This Saturday at 2 pm EST Anthony Brown will announce where he will attend college next year. Choosing between Oklahoma, Michigan, Penn State, Cincinnati and Kentucky, most believe the Bearcats are the Wildcats’ top competition. In the final days of his recruitment, Kentucky has a significant advantage in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Brown is a four-star wide receiver in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’ll announce the decision at Springfield High School where he’s coached by a former Wildcat, Moe Douglas, who’s sent a couple of players to UK over the years.

If you follow Kentucky football recruiting, you already knew most of this. Did you know Anthony Brown’s uncle is the EGOT, John Legend?

Brown’s mother, Phyllis, is a sister to Mr. Legend, a talented jack-of-all-trades that has won 14 Grammy Awards throughout his illustrious career. Even though Legend spends most of his time far from Ohio, their families typically connect each year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Recruiting has made life a little too busy for the wide receiver lately, but Anthony Brown tells Rivals he’s made some memories over the years while traveling with his famous uncle.

“I’ve been on tour with him,” Brown said. “We went to the Yankees game to meet Derek Jeter and went backstage. We went to the NBA All-Star Game and sat courtside, just stuff like that.”

Brown once followed Legend. Next year it’s time for his uncle to return the favor. Waka Flocka set the bar high, but I’m sure John Legend can bring the BBN to its feet if Brown makes the wise choice to spend his future Saturdays at Kroger Field.

Of course, John Legend got stuck in my head while writing this post. Now it’s your turn to hum along.
