John Wall demands trade out of Washington

Former Kentucky superstar John Wall wants out of Washington.

Despite being sidelined for nearly two full calendar years with back-to-back heel and ruptured left Achilles tendon injuries, along with being owed $133 million over the next three seasons, Wall has “made it clear” that he wants to be traded.

Shams Charania was the first to report the news.

This comes after The Athletic reported earlier this week that the Wizards had discussed a trade that would send Wall to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Russell Westbrook, though negotiations have not gone far due to the Rockets seeking more assets.

Wall, who was drafted No. 1 overall by the Wizards back in 2010, last played in a game on Dec. 26, 2018. In 32 games played during the 2018-19 season, the former Wildcat averaged 20.7 points and 8.7 assists per contest.

Over the course of his career in Washington, Wall has been selected as an All-Star five times (2014-2018), was third-team All-NBA in 2017 and second-team all-defense in 2015.

In his lone season at Kentucky, Wall averaged 16.6 points, 6.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds en route to becoming a consensus first-team All-American. Back on September 22, 2017, Wall was inducted into the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame.
