Joker Phillips took some time out to talk to ESPN's Chris Low before tomorrow afternoon's Spring Game, and he covered things like the progress the program has made, the confidence he has in the team's young players and how big it was to end the losing streak to Tennessee last season. He said that in addition to making history, the win gave the team confidence and momentum heading into the offseason.
“The way we finished, period, was encouraging -- playing well against Georgia and then beating Tennessee,” Phillips said. “The thing I liked about the Tennessee game was that we got to see some seniors go out the right way. Every senior that played on defense made plays, but there were a lot of young guys who played, too. “And for those young guys to have success carried through to the offseason, and that momentum has shown this spring. It’s shown in the way they’ve worked, and now it’s starting to show in their confidence level and the way they’ve played this spring.”
Check out the rest of the article to see what else was Joker had to say in previewing the season. It'll get you ready for the game at 6 p.m. tomorrow and I know you don't have anything else to do. You're reading a sports blog at 9:45 on a Friday night.
