This is what happens when you put Josh Allen on a competent football team

If you’re reading this, Josh Allen is probably the most talented person you’ve ever seen in a Kentucky football uniform. A third down dynamo, he dominated college football unlike any other defender in the 2018 season. Few defensive players impacted the game the way Josh Allen did at Kentucky. Then he got drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Aside from a fleeting moment of success — a run to the AFC Championship Game in 2017 — the Jaguars are among one of the most ridiculed organizations in all of professional sports. In the NFL, only the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions get it worse, and that’s just because the Jaguars haven’t been around long enough to rival their incompetence.

Entering his third season, the Jaguars gave Josh Allen a gift only the Jaguars could give: Urban Meyer. An inevitable disaster, Urban Meyer was even worse than expected. In fact, they actually improved once he left, thanks in large part to Josh Allen’s heroics against the other Josh Allen. Now that the disease has been eradicated, the Jaguars are actually moving in the right direction during an important year for Allen.

Josh Allen is Destroying Opponents and the Jaguars are a Wagon

The Jaguars invested in their team this offseason and it finally appears to be paying off. They added WR Christian Kirk and Super Bowl Champion head coach Doug Pederson to aid in Trevor Lawrence‘s development. They also invested in Luke Fortner (ever heard of him?) to provide protection. On the other side of the line of scrimmage, Travon Walker has played like a No. 1 overall pick, forcing double teams away from Josh Allen.

The results are astounding. The Jaguars are 2-1 and Josh Allen is ripping people’s heads off (figuratively speaking, of course). In three weeks Allen has two sacks, two forced fumbles and 16 QB pressures, the second-most in the NFL. During the Jags’ blowout of the Chargers, the former Wildcat had 10 QB pressures in only 36 attempts. Insanity. Hear how it all unfolded while the former Cat was mic’d up.

Josh Allen is locked in through 2023 after the Jags’ picked up his fifth-year option in the preseason. Thanks to some offseason investment, the former Wildcat might have a little playoff fun before he sees what free agency has to offer.
