Julius Mays named new AD at Whitko High School

Former Kentucky guard Julius Mays has a new gig. Monday evening, Whitko High School of South Whitley, IN announced Mays as its new athletic director, effective immediately. “I am excited to get to lead an athletic department and have the opportunity to help mold the youth within the Whitko student body,” Mays said in the official release. Mays becomes the new athletic director at Whitko after serving as the assistant athletic director at Marion High School (Marion, IN) since April of 2018. “Julius comes highly recommended and we are incredibly fortunate that he has decided to join our Whitko family.” said Whitko Community Schools Superintendent Brandon Penrod. “We’re counting on his leadership and experience to generate new excitement within the student body for our athletics program.” https://twitter.com/tu_sportsdude/status/1262518019487563777?s=21 Mays earned a degree in Organizational Leadership from Wright State University and he is continuing to pursue his Masters in Sports Administration at the University of Kentucky. During his time on the court at Kentucky (2012-13), the 6-foot-2 guard out of Marion, IN averaged 9.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per contest, to go with 37% shooting from three. Prior to his time in Lexington, Mays averaged 14.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, along with 42.4% from three at Wright State. After his time at Kentucky, Mays went on to play professional basketball overseas for MOBYT Ferrara of Italy. Congratulations to the former Wildcat on earning his new gig!
