With the rumors swirling that Julius Randle could be announcing his commitment in the next few weeks, many began to wonder if Marcus Lee's commitment to Kentucky would have any effect on the Wildcats' chances of landing Randle, the top player and big man in the 2013 class. According to Julius Randle's mother,
who spoke with Adam Zagoria (he has a way with the parents, it seems),
Randle could play at Kentucky with Marcus Lee. Julius Randle is very much still considering Kentucky.
"That was their commitment based on what was best for Marcus. Great players complement other great players on their team. Julius and his family will talk in the spring and decide the best place for him.
Nothing has changed his thought about Kentucky. He's still considering Kentucky."
Randle's mother makes it sound like the decision won't come until the spring, which might be due to waiting to see how things play out with Kentucky's current roster and who leaves for the NBA draft. S
he downplayed the rumors about his decision coming earlier, saying she had no idea where those reports were coming from.
