The Commonwealth of Kentucky lost Justin Thomas to the University of Alabama for the Louisville native’s college golf career and Thomas has been rolling tide ever since.

On Sunday, after winning his second PGA Championship, Thomas was asked in a SiriusXM radio interview if he will follow Nick Saban’s 24-hour rule of celebrating or if Thomas’ celebration will last more than a day. A passionate defender of Alabama football, Thomas seized the opportunity to land a shot at Jimbo Fisher for Fisher’s recent comments about Saban.

“I’ve got a 24-hour rule,” Thomas replied. “I’m not sure what Jimbo Fisher’s rule is but I guess he’s gotta win something first before he figures out his rule.”

Justin Thomas at the PGA Championship

Sunday’s win at Southern Hills was the second PGA Championship for Justin Thomas, a 2011 graduate of St. X High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Thomas matched a PGA Championship comeback record by overcoming a seven-stroke deficit after 54 holes, helped out by Mito Pereira’s double-bogey on the 18th. Pereira’s double moved the 54-hole leader from first to second on the leaderboard, setting up a three-hole aggregate playoff between Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris. Thomas birdied the first two holes of the playoff and secured the Wanamaker Trophy with a par on the third for his second career major championship.
