One of the most talented running backs from the Commonwealth is making his college decision in roughly 24 hours. Kaden Moorman, a three-star running back from Franklin County, will be making his announcement on Friday at 2 p.m. EST.

As of right now, Kentucky only has one commit from the class of 2023 in Frederick Douglass defensive back Ty Bryant, but he might not be alone for long…

Moorman, considered a top-five junior from the state of Kentucky, was in Lexington over the weekend to witness the Wildcats’ historic upset over the then-No. 10 Florida Gators. He soaked in the atmosphere of the win and the non-stop cheering from the Big Blue Nation, leaving Lexington highly impressed. It wasn’t his first game-visit, either, as Moorman was in town for the win over Missouri. He grew up going to Kentucky games, as well.

In Moorman’s own words

Earlier this week, Moorman briefly spoke with KSR to talk about his most recent trip to campus.

“I met with Coach (John) Settle, me and him talked about my season,” Moorman said. “I saw Coach (Vince) Marrow, and me and Coach Marrow walked and talked on the field before pregame. So we talked about my season and how UK is looking the next couple of years and how they’re building their program.

“I felt at home.”

Not even a full day after UK’s win, Moorman took to Twitter to say that he’s made up his mind.

Moorman received his scholarship offer from Kentucky back in June following an impressive camp visit, his third from a Divison I program. He also holds offers from Wisconsin and Toledo. Associate head coach Vince Marrow has been all over Moorman since the summer.

It’s been a breakout junior year so far for Moorman, too, backing up the hard work he put in over the summer the led to the Kentucky offer. Through seven games for Franklin County (4-3), the 5-foot-10, 215-pound back has rushed for a team-high 777 yards on 92 attempts (111.0 per game) including 14 touchdowns. Moorman’s stats rank among the top 50 in the state across the board

“I worked my tail off this summer,” Moorman said. “To me, I feel like I can do better, I can do more for my team. I feel like I can do way more than I do right now. I still feel like I haven’t had my best game yet.”

Moorman is only going to get better throughout the season and into his senior year, but he’s striking while the iron is hot.

I feel like Coach Marrow sees my true potential,” Moorman added.

We’ll find out on Friday if he’ll let Marrow help him reach that potential.
