Former NBA star Stephen Jackson held a press conference today in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in support of George Floyd, his childhood friend who was murdered by a police officer earlier this week. Jackson and Floyd grew up together outside of Houston, and Jackson has referred to Floyd as his “twin” due to the close nature of their friendship and an uncanny resemblance they shared.

Jackson’s Friday press conference was to defend Floyd’s name and to raise even more awareness around the heinous crime that took his friend’s life. Jackson was surrounded by other well-known people, including Jamie Foxx and one of our favorite people on the entire planet, former Kentucky basketball star Karl-Anthony Towns.

I’ll remind you: Towns lost his mother — his sweet, sweet and supportive mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns — to the coronavirus last month. Now he’s standing up for what’s right in his new hometown, Minneapolis, because he recognizes his impact on the community and knows it is important to force change.

The strength on this guy is unbelievable.
