karl-kyjersey Karl Towns is considered a lock for NBA Rookie of the Year, but no one knows for sure when it will be announced. In an interview with The Sporting News' Sean Deveney, Towns said if anyone finds out, let him know.
“I have no idea,” Towns said, laughing, when asked about when the ROY vote will be officially announced. “Your guess is as good as mine. If you find out, you let me know.”
What's also a lock? John Calipari being mentioned for various NBA job openings even though he's made it pretty clear he has no intention of leaving Lexington for the foreseeable future. Deveney asked Towns what he thought when Calipari was mentioned as a candidate for the Timberwolves' head coaching job, which eventually went to Tom Thibodeau:
Of course, as happens every offseason, Towns’ old college coach – Kentucky’s John Calipari – was mentioned as a candidate for the Timberwolves job, as well as others. Towns, like many, warns us not to put much stock into such talk. “I don’t believe he is going anywhere, I have no doubt that he isn’t going anywhere,” Towns said. “But that’s for all of us to find out. He loves it there, he loves Lexington, he loves Big Blue Nation.”
