Kean University, a public university in Union and Hillside, New Jersey, is honoring the life and legacy of the late Jacqueline Towns.

Towns, the mother of former Kentucky star Karl-Anthony Towns, lost her life due to complications from COVID-19 back on April 13, 2020. Over one year later, a local university in New Jersey has decided to honor Towns’ life by naming a basketball court on campus after her, calling it ‘Jacqueline Towns Court.’

“Jacqueline Towns Court on the East Campus (at Kean University),” Kean University President Dr. Lamont Repollet announced on social media. “Thank You (Karl-Anthony Towns) and Karl Towns, Sr. for entrusting us with the Legacy of the Towns Family Matriarch.”

“(Karl-Anthony Towns) came to see the newly resurfaced basketball court at East Campus, memorialized in honor of his mother, Jacqueline Towns,” the school added. “We thank him and his family for their generosity that will also support a women’s empowerment series in her name.”
